here's my email to a few carb shops....
..................................................................
I have a street driven( very little ) 1969 dodge dart with a 498/440 , with Indy 440-1 325s , 700 roller cam,
13-1 comp, was dynoed at 800+ with a demon 1090 ,It was the only Carb I tried !
727 , 456 8 3/4 , et street radials, s.s. suspension . magna fuel 500 pump, all #12 and #10 lines

The demon ran like crap on the street so I have a holley dominator 1050 which is what I run now.

Car runs 9.98 at 143 with only a 1.45 60'
Car Idles and runs on the street fine, except a little ruff in low rpm which I can live with .

I was wondering if I'm under carbed? I should be well into the 9's.

Could I get a price on a new carb built for this set up ?
Thanks, Tim

Also, with slicks its WAAAAAAAAAY faster :bootysha:

I have 493 i am running a dominatior 1050 also....The builder states that this is the best carb for this motor...12.2 COMP, 7OO lift roller, 10.0 1/4 1.35 60'...

Patrick James from Pro Systems carb emailed me this back

I don't think the carb is ridiculously undersized, but I think theres probably 15-30 hp in putting a good booster and metering program in your carb, pulling some of that part throttle fuel out of it and kicking the cfm up a little.

We have a great update program for your 3 circuit 1050 HP Dominator that'll work excellent for your application.

Although the specs may vary from this post a little (when I get your carb on the bench and start calibrating and sizing it for the combination). However, I print off your supplied techsheet and it follows the carb around the shop. I use that info to calibrate the carb to your exact program. But this basic info will still apply.

The XC program includes our 51 series Red CNC Billet double step boosters, (that offer great throttle response, clean throttle pickup and excellent atomization), it has our adjustable air bleed configuration, non-stick gaskets, drag float, jet extensions, is live-tested and wet-flowed with a complete wet-flow portfolio that shows all of the hi to low jetting parameters, for easy jet selection (if any is needed we're usually dead-on or within 2 jet sizes).

It also comes with access to our 24/7 techline for tuning assistance after hours, on weekends and/or at the races.

We disassemble the unit completely back down to the raw castings and simply start over and build it to a combination suited for your application.

I have a copy of your techsheet so simply box it up and send it in. Most programs are in the $390-450 range but its actually tough to hit $450.00

Typically I see 20-35 more hp out of this program for most dominators in your horsepower range and if the need arises you can spray it up to a 400 shot (you never know) : )

With a good fuel curve and improved booster atomization and improved drivability its more consistent in operation from day to day and also much easier to read your spark plugs.

We are currently on a real accurate 4 day turnaround. OR, we can build you a new one for $890.00

Just box it up and send it in.

so after the track rental monday and if the weather looks like the cruise season is over I'm going to send it in .
I had there carb on my 388 N/A motor in a vega and ran flawless..

Keep me posted on this, if you get your carb done and it seems much better i might send mine out also? Thanks

Where do you keep your idle at? My idle seems to shoot up after it's warmed up some, thanks...

its set at 900 it will stay at that all day when driving, only time it shoots up(to 1800) is if i leave it idling for more then 4-5 minutes in park, cold or hot.

mine seems to jump up after 1 min or so...My idle is at 1200 or so, i need to back it off some? In the video you car went 9.77 133 mph was it, looks like it hooks awesome....Rear tires were slicks right?

137 mph and that was getting out of it early.
rear tires are Mickey Thompson et streets radials I drive this car all over and race it the exact same way as I drive on the street.....
use to keep idle up that high but got the carb working better and at 900 when put into a gear she stays at 900 so its perfect there.
