Hi does anyone now anything about the crosswind intake for a 340? where are these intake made? they are way cheaper than the eddy air gap. thanks in advance

They are probably made out of country. I would check one out but be sure you can return it with no problem if you don't like it. I think i remember some of those having casting flash and runners not being straight when they first came out.

Made in China, a cheap rip off of Edelbrocks RPM intake, there were casting flaws at first, don't know if it's been corrected. Ports were not shape right and offset.
Buy American, the job you save may be your own.

thats all i need to know thanks guys by the way I have a brand new (never installed) ld4b on ebay right now reserve is 200

there not as bad as people want you to think, Its easy for other people to tell you to spend more money on part- "I think you should just go buy a gold plated blower- it will give you more hp, so why not" The simple fact is if you want to save some $$ so that you can more evenly spread it over a project then who cares where its made. It is a good product- I did see a few pro-products from about 3 years ago that weren't the best quality, but lately I've built 3 engines with them and they were all very good quality. And as for "they just coppied Edelbrock" :crybaby: :crybaby: :crybaby: I know we all feel bad for the poor Edelbrock company that can't make ends meet (I heard they had to eat the family dog last week) but no body cares about the World Kool Kan that had that design first- nobody cares about them. And if we should only buy from the first company that makes a product then everybody get rid of you Weiand, Holley, Mopar single plane intakes and go buy an Edelbrock Spider (even though ol' Vic stole that design from another guy). I'm not trying to be anti-Edelbrock or anti-American but competion is what makes america great. I know they aren't made in America but the company is american and if they can make a decent product for half the price, and I can save a good chunk of change- than thats what I'll do. Sure I'd love to just buy anything I want, but unfortanately some guys have a budget they have to live on.

Anyways- back to the issue at hand- I have one on my stroker 318 and it pulled 370 hp/ 400ft.lbs- with a nice smooth curve on both. I've seen an Edelbrock Airgap on the dyno on top of a 408 stroker that a horrible flat spot around 4400 rpm- not so in the "cheap chinese junk"

So by way of this post your telling me that the "Cheap china part" is better because the "Americanpart" happen to have a funny reaction on a totally different engine.
Also, you would rather give your money away to a company thats not American even though it's a copy right infringment, a blatant rip off.

I'm not trying to be anti-Edelbrock or anti-American .
The post fooled me.
but competion is what makes america great
Absouletly, however, unfair comp. from overseas and outsourcing is whats killing the Ameriacn dollor and job market.
(I heard they had to eat the family dog last week)
LOL, thats funny. Also something the people of China have been doing for years and tears. Are we to be brought done to eating our dogs?
I also work on a budget. Freely spending money on parts is something I can't do. I'll wait before I give my money away to a forgien company.
I have lots of things to spend my money on before I spend on the car. House kids car collage education times 3 in this house.

Send your money where you will. My last sentence I stand by. The job you save my be your own.

I have one on my 360 and there was no alignment issues and the casting looked very good. If you compare it side by side with an Air Gap there are a lot of differences, the air gap concept was copied but it certainly is not a knock-off.

As far as buy US, Edelbrock is about the only outfit that makes all it's products in the US. Buy a manifold from Weiand or Holley and probally Mopar Performance the entire manifold is made over seas or at least cast. I went for the Cross Wind because it had both magnum and LA mounting arrangements.

wow! I sure didnt expect this much response but I do appreciate everyones candor. I too try to spend my money in the us or at least north america as the Canada/US border is a line on a map but if we only bought US items we would not have much (my 03 ram was made in mexico) thanks again for your opinions guys , great website. Marc

They use Westech Preformance for their dyno testing.
well i emailed these people 2-days ago. i ask them about their testing equipment. asked about a flo-bench, dyno, comparison of products, & quality. well i'm still waiting for an answer. maybe they don't speak english.

Isn't the eagle stuff made over in China? The reason I ask is that even though everybody including myself uses thier rods and cranks, the workmanship is not as good as the USA made stuff. The first set of eagle SIR rods I bought were machined wrong and had rod bolts and nuts. they would not work so they are junk in my opinion. The second set had capscrews and improved quality. I would love to have bought american parts but on a budget there are no internal engine parts made in this country that I can afford to run. I will buy a real airgap manifold though.

Yes Eagle and Scat parts are from China, as are most of the lower end speed parts. I purchased Eagle SIR rods for my 360 build last year and compared the factory rods they were a piece of jewelry. The forgings were first class and the machining was perfect. They came with ARP cap screw rod bolts.

It was actually about $50 less to go with the Eagles than to refurb and upgrade the bolts on stock rods.
