I've read the many threads on this board having to do with replacing the clunky 1974+ rear bumpers on Duster/Dart Sport with 1971/72 rear bumpers. The biggest issue seems to be that the rear cross member has significant changes, such as the BIG hole for the 1974 bumper shocks.
Question: Would it be feasible to replace the 1974 cross member with one for a 1972 Duster? This would have the holes in the right places for the 1972 bumper.

I know there would still be a gap on the sides of the 1972 bumper due to the difference in the 1974+ quarter panels to accommodate the bumper filler, but that is easily solved.
