I have a 1988 Dodge Pickup with a 318 throttle
body. When the truck starts when it is cold it
runs great. As it warms up it starts bogging
and blowing black smoke like it is getting too
much fuel. Then as it gets warmer it acts like
it is not getting enough fuel and it stalls. If
I dump fuel in the carb it starts and runs until
the fuel burns out then it stalls again. If I let it
sit after 2 or 3 hours it will start up and run fine
again. It has a new fuel pump, timing chain and
gears. It seems like something electronic. I cant
get the fault codes because the check engine
light isn't working.I did change the throttle body
and it didn't help so I put the original throttle
body back on it. BTW it doesn't have an 02
sensor. I'm almost ready to burn it.
Does anyone have any ideas. Thanks Tom
