273 stalling when put into gear

Drove 8 hours yesterday with no problem, today the car stalls when you go from park - reverse or park - drive. The car is a 65 Valiant, 273 2bbl, auto. It was only doing it from park - reverse earlier, but now it's also doing it while in drive. It doesn't do it when driving out of 1st gear, ie highways, local streets. It only seems to be right after start up or when rolling slowly without giving it gas. Any ideas on how to stop this? Oh, and I'm not at home with a bunch of tools, I'm 8 hours from home with a small bag of tools.

Try turning your idle up just a little.

tap on the float bowl, it sounds like the float is sticking AND ^^^^^

Check carb mounting bolts for snug......vacuum leak?

Thanks, I tried tapping the float like suggested, and turned the idle up a bit. I'll check in later tonight after we've driven around a while and update.

Mounted to the intake? Thanks, I'll check those too.

- checked them, I was able to snug them all up.

great, must have been a stuck float.
