I've driven my Dart over 3000 miles in two years, and the rear end has always whined on the drive side. It sounds like it's picking up a rhythmic howl/noise now at certain speeds, and it's probably only a matter of time before I'll have to do something about it.

I replaced the axle seals and bearings this summer because the seals were leaking, and I noticed that the R/P seemed scored up a little, probably from running low on oil. It had a bad pinion seal leak when I got it and the oil level was down.

I'm thinking about putting feelers out for a clean gear set for that someday when I need to rebuild it. It has 3.23s and those seem like the right gears for the car.

What's a fair price to pay for nice used gears for a 7 1/4?

I recently got a quote for a similar rebuild but i was going to go 3.55 on my 7.25.The guy gave me a ballpark of 485 to 600 with new gear set. Not sure if that helps but considering youve had all the bearings and seals done that price might be cut in half considering my quote was with bearings and seals.
