Lunati makes a great 268 grind that I would consider to be a hot rod street cam.
I don’t know my exact compression ratio because I’m not 100% sure of my deck height. I cannot remember if it was taken down at the machine shop when I had it bored over. But based on my inputs to summits CR calculator it should be anywhere from 9.5-10.2:1
2000 stall is stock would work with a mild cam, but a mild cam might be too much with your possible cr to run on pump gas, meaning you might need to run a fair size cam which will want more stall and gears.I’m almost positive the rear end already has 3.23. I’m learning that going with a 2000 stall when having the transmission rebuilt was possibly a mistake.
Rear tires are 225/70-14. I’m running stock steel rims. Guess I’ll look into upgrading torque converter and rear gears.I'd want to go with at least 3.91 gears with a decent 318, but probably could live with 3.55 depending on tire size. Smaller engines operate at higher rpm's and make less torque needing deeper gears to run well.
If that's the case you could go with a fairly strong cam, I'd be looking at xe268h or xe275h or similar by other companies depending on CR stall and gear choices.Rear tires are 225/70-14. I’m running stock steel rims. Guess I’ll look into upgrading torque converter and rear gears.
I was looking at the Howard 718001-09 which is pretty similar just has a much higher rated stall. If that's the case you could go with a fairly strong cam, I'd be looking at xe268h or xe275h or similar by other companies depending on CR stall and gear choices.
