Took the car to Bandimere Saturday and was surprised/happy: 13.46@100 first run, 13.48@100 second run. And then the rains came.
318+030
KB-845 pistons
302 heads ported by me, stock valve sizes
Comp XE-274 solid cam
273 rockers
air gap manifold
750 mech sec carb
3000 converter
904
4.30 gears
26" tall drag radials
3200# car with me in it
since the altitude is 5800', I was very pleased with the little motor!

Based loosely on NHRA's factoring, that is a SOLID 12-second 318 here at sea level. NICE!!!

Any pics??

Any idea what the heads flow?

60" times were 1.90-2.0 so I think there is room for improvement. I have some 4.86 gears in another 3rd member which are very noisy, so I may try to get them set up properly and try them. Trap rpm's are 6100 so I have room there.

Gotta get some pics uploaded soon, I have had much difficulty uploading pics.
thanks again for the comments!

VERY nice!! My old 360 with eddy heads and a MP 292/.509 cam had a best up there of a 13.1, but normally ran 13.5-13.8 in the heat. That is VERY good for a 318 up on Thunder Mountain….man I miss that track…but I don’t miss the thin air :-D

Very nice times for up here in the rare air. IIRC, .7 seconds is what the NHRA figures, so that would put you in the 12.87 range at sea level. Well done.
