340 and 4 speed

recently picked up a 340 engine and a a body

833 4 speed and all the stuff nessecary to do a 4speed conversion so what are the important numbers on the block and transmisson

Partial VINs will be on the passenger side of the engine & passenger side of the gear box. Looked for flat machined pads about 3" long.
