72's didn't have a steel crank. A pic of the balancer will tell you which it is
$1,850 is a good deal? 
Not even for a 340, especially not a for a late '72, possibly even a '73 model year 340. Hasn't run in years, unknown internals, was in a truck so it's been fooled with- that's a core. Maybe I'm wrong, but I wouldn't buy that thing planning on having it work as is. All the accessories look like cores too. If it ran it might get that much, but in my book that's just a core unless proven otherwise. Probably not even a standard bore.

Early build 72's were produced with a steel crank....The 1 pictured is a June 72 build, so would most likely be cast.
