For those of you who have done this swap, will a standard dust cover for the small block 727 fit behind the 5.7 hemi, or does it need to be modified?

Well, to answer my own question: it will fit IF you haven't installed the headers yet!
PUT THE DUST COVER ON BEFORE YOU INSTALL THE MOTOR/TRANNY!!!
Live and learn. It won't clear the headers if you wait too long as I did. I had to cut off the part that goes around the starter hole to get it to go into the car without removing at least one of the headers. Also, be careful of the little tabs on the top, they can get bent easily and bang against the converter bolts when it's running.
