not sure if this is the correct forum.....im replacing the timing chain on 2003 ram with a 5.7 hemi. the truck has 160k on it. the procedure is to align cam sprocket dot with odd colored link at 12 o'clock, and crank dot between two odd colored links at 6 o clock. with the dots in the correct locations i am one link off on both sprockets. is this a dirty trick from the assembly line or do i continue to rotate the motor until alignment results(if it will) or should i just install new components as the old ones are aligned? I think its ok to just go ahead and install new stuff along with new tensioner. second guessing myself I suppose.
