Got a chance to get mufflers in place. Little more finish welding then to hang them. List is getting smaller but a little more to go
Thank you. I just got a bunch of mandrel bends and merge collectors. You’ll have more room on the Dakota than a A body hahawow you do great work. whos header kit did you get? I will be putting a 397 hemi in my 91 Dakota sport and I am going build a set of headers for it, which will be my first time. very glad my son knows how to tig weld.lol
If there is more room it sure don't look like much.lol thanks for the info about your headersThank you. I just got a bunch of mandrel bends and merge collectors. You’ll have more room on the Dakota than a A body haha
Have been toying with the idea of rack and pinion steering to give me more room for exhaust along with modifying current slanty k frame.
Can't answer for the Op on his thoughts and plans. But I can say that as far as I know every attempt to modify the original K-frame to add rack and pinion has been an utter failure. I certainly haven't seen everything, but that's what I remember.
If rack and pinion steering is a must, I would suggest you look at a full aftermarket suspension like @HemiDenny's kit or similar. The why's and options beyond the Op's thoughts are for a different thread though.
No need for a rack. If you go the rack and pinion get a k member etc.. everything is close very close but it fits.I have also thought about building a fixture that has all the mounting point positions minus motor mounts using the original k member and building a tubed k member that will give me plenty of room for all the components. Then i can properly mount a rack with the correct geometry. Is that a manual steering box in that car or is it power.
What size exhaust are you running
1-7/8 to 2” headers 3” exhaust
