I'm thinking, I might have to do the headliner myself. I hit up 2 local shops, they wanted $1100 and $1500 to do the headliner and front / rear window install. Thats all labor, no parts.

I have a few questions:

1) I VAGUELY remember 2 springs from the top of the back window to the last bow......If they are there, I have no idea where mine are. Are replacements available???????
2) should the sail panel "boards" with the light mounts be GLUED into place against the steel C pillar?
3) I have dynamat on the ceiling....should I glue some puffy padding over it before the liner? or is it not needed.
4) Anyone know of a thread showing lots of pictures of a barrcuda headliner install?
5) Finally: what is the bow color sequence???????

thanks!

Unless you're experienced at this, or have a second one to replace your first...I'd let the pros do it. $1,100 seems on the outrageous side. Perhaps they're worried about the big glass and breaking it.

If you remove it yourself first and let a glass shop re-install it, maybe you could save a few bucks. I did my 66 Barracuda (had it done). You can't save the gaskets...don't try. Cut them up and remove the glass as carefully as possible. Take advantage of the accessibility and clean that glass really good while you can.

I did the removal and got someone to do the liner for $350. I was there to lend a hand when needed.

Not springs at the back, but 2 thin wire hooks. I found mine hanging at the back and tucked them in the box with my new headliner. Best to glue insulation pad to roof, without sound deadener it will be noisy.

Glass is out and clean. Channels are clean and painted. I have both new gaskets. Old liner is out, all clean, and dynamat sound desdener installed. I have me a headliner as well.

I'd LOVE to find someone to come do the work on my shop. No luck finding anyone.

Anyone know a source for the wire hooks??

That's criminal (if you pay it). The front glass removal is relatively easy, I did it successfully on my first try with tongue depressors! The headliner is a little more skill/experience involved as the rear window needs to come out, but that is just a time killer. They are tougher than they appear to break. Mine still has wrinkles in it (mainly from the packing folds it came with) , just never tightened it up. Heat may help over the long run but I bought it for $50 new, and all my labor so it cost me a saturday and $50. Reused the good gaskets. Gojo is a great lube and keeps your hands clean....if you could get someone to do the headliner for $350 without any windows in it, that would be a wise choice. Installing the glass is entirely doable at home

this shows a realistic install with all its quirks...
