Hello, Ive been told that a 1965 Barracuda 6 cyl. K-member & a 8cyl. K-member are different, but I pulled some measurement's from both 8 & 6 and the appear to be the same, motor mount slots measure out the same. Second question, is there a 8 3/4 bolt in for my 65 Barracuda?

The K members are the same in the early A-Bodies, they were different on the 67 up.

The 8 3/4 out of any A-Body will bolt up but the drive shaft will need to be shortened if going from the original 7 1/4

You are correct on the K member. The early A bodies ('63-'66) used the same K member for slants and V8s. Any A body 8 3/4" rear end will bolt into your '65. 1965 was the last year for the ball and trunnion drive shaft though, so a '66-'72 rear end will require the slip yoke style drive shaft. This will require a '66 up output shaft and tailshaft housing on your transmission, a '66 up transmission, or a '65 or older center chunk for the rear end.

You don't need to change the tranny or shaft, the original will work with the 8 3/4

I've had several early A's with the ball and trunnion and an 8 3/4 rear, you do need to shorten the shaft though.

ONE more thing...r u planning on using the 904 or swapping to a 727? if you are swapping out the 904 for a 727 you need to do a couple of things.... 1. remove the pinch weld between the firewall and the tunnel ( foldin it over does work but looks shitty and offers zero clearance, removal is best, weld in some flatstock 2. depending on the year of the 727 you may have to modify the tranny mount. ALSO if you are swapping in a v8 you may need to change the center link to a v8 centerlink...the /6 one will hit your pan and you wont be able to steer

If you're doing a /6 to small block changeover you'll also need: Accelerator pedal assy, and cable; all the correct mounts and brackets for a '64-6 A-body engine; Correct kickdown linkage for same (2bbl or 4bbl, as they are different); V8 radiator, exhaust system; and other recommended upgrades such as disc brakes; bigger torsion bars; and 6 leaf springs. If you get the 8 3/4 out of a car, grab the 6 leaf springs and the u-bolts and shock plates too. That donor car might also have the bigger torsion bars.
