My brothers 1965 Valiant V8 4 speed console convertible has a code W4. Anybody know what this signifies?

It's a AB=30 273 cubic inch v8, a D=3 4-speed, and a Z=2 Front bucket seats and console. Did any 1965 4 speeds really come with a console?

It wasn't a console. It came with a bezel w/ shift pattern and a black gear shift knob or a chrome trim ring with a white gear shift knob with shift pattern.

I have seen NOTHING referring to the "W" column. NO clue even to what that column classifies.
The top plate for the 4 speed makes sense.

X=7 front retracting belt
X=8 retract. belt front+rear
X=9 std belt front + rear
Y=9 fender turn light
Z=1 Front bucket seats w / rear seat shroud
Z=2 Front bucket seats and console

Apparently the A-Z codes were extra cost options.

My 64 has the following and these codes correspond with what is installed on my car:

A=5: Torqueflite automatic transmission
F=1: AM Music Master Radio
H=5: Heater/Defroster
J=7: White convertible top
K=6: Power convertible top
M=3: Back-up lights
N=8: Windshield washer - dual jet
P=1: Mirror- outside left manual
QR = 02: 225 cid slant six (1964 used a double digit engine code)
T= 8:Battery 48 Amp
W=1: new car service with gas

In regards to the W. I have been able to decipher the following that i believe to be accurate:

1= new car service with gas
2=sold car/expedite
9=new car service without gas

the W appears to be related to how the car was ordered and where and how it was to be delivered.

sorry cant help with any other codes but i hope this gives you a start. again mine is a 64 and the codes may have changed for 65, if so, ignore my post.
