69 440-4-speed Swinger.

The car has 4:30 gears in it now. Way too low for street use/regular driving. Can anyone share their experience/suggestions on a good rear gear set up for street and strip?

I want to be able to run any highway in the area, but also want to "get up and go".

I'm thinking I'll try 3:73's, but I would like to hear from some of you before I start spending $ on a guess.

looking at your sig its a 4 speed? big block should be able to run 3.23 (torque for days) 3.55 seams to be the happy medium. There is a ton of variables and just like the weather its just an educated guess.

The numbers are in. With the current gearing, I'm doing 2,500 RPM's at 43 MPH. This thing Ripps off the line 0-60, but I can't stay there for long.

3.23 is a good street gear, I had them in my 69 dart 440 4 speed and took them out for 3.91's. The 3.23's are going right back in. 50-55 is the max I dare run with the 3.91's as she is screaming. I have no tach so can't tell you what my rpm's are but I know its to much for constant running.
