69 Cuda fuel Gauge

Well, the fuel gauge on my 69 Formula S Barracuda is not working and I cannot figure out as to why. All of my other gauges are working, but not this one. For now, im thinking about adding a cheap Equus fuel level gauge that is supposed to be compatable with Chrysler and Ford sending units without putting in another sending unit. Has anyone used one of these before or can someone tell me if this gauge will work with my existing sending unit? During my troubleshooting, I replaced the sending unit with a new one from Quanta. Also, does anyone have any clues as to why my original fuel gauge does not function? Thanks.

Ground out the sending unit wire and see if you gauge moves, if it does you have a problem with sending unit or sending unit ground. Being there is a rubber hose between the sender and fuel line to ground the sending unit it is supposed to have a metal strap that snaps on the sending unit and fuel line bridging the hose.
