Car: 1969 Dart Swinger 340/4spd. Its going to get a full resto next year. Buckets rather than a front bench, NOM 69 340., R4 red, Black interior, vinyl top delete, stripe delete. I'm torn in the wheels/tires/brakes dept.

Option 1: keep SBP with 14x5.5 steelies in body color with pov. caps. running 4 wheel drum. Also have SBP ralleys and SBP alum. slots to choose from.

Option 2: switch to LBP running 15x7 steelies in body color with pov. caps.
using 73+ slider disk brakes and new axles with 10x2.5 brakes. Also have LBP 14" ralleys if needed. Keep the SBP axles, brakes and front end parts in a box for the eventual DNO (Dreaded next owner)

I plan on using it as a nice street driver, not a show car and not a race car.
Resale is a concern....it MAY be sold as soon as done. (long story)

Curious? What would you do and why???

Hey Swing69, I like the idea of the 15" LBP. If you decide to use the steelies or not, you will always have a greater choice of wheels and tires. The selection of 14" tires is getting pretty limited. And, by the way, I'll be hounding you about KEEPING that Swinger...

I know...

Those springs will come in very handy. Since they are new 6 leaf, they'll go under the 69.

thanks again!
Mike

My 69 Dart has a set of alum. wheels but they are 14" sbp. The problem is that if you drive it, 14" tires are getting hard to find especially performance tires. I plan on driving my 69 and the idea of disc brakes is important but everyone is now trying to drive the price up on the parts to change. I may look at finding a 69 disc brake set-up and keep the wheels I have for a while. I know where one complete setup is for $275. But then I'm still stuck with 14" tires.

if your going to off it when finished put the 14 sbp stuff on it an let the next guy worry about it . 14" tires easy to get got mine at sears cheap less than 300 for 4 mounted balanced out the door .use the bbp stuff for your next ride that you plan on keeping .

I wouldn't hesitate to update the wheels to BBP and 15" rims.

The most important thing here is switching to disc brakes. Even if you stay with sbp. Probably cheaper to go with the lbp anyway. It opens up so many more options for wheels and tires.

If you are going to sell car , sbp with original drum brakes is more original . I would keep it that way, you can always offer the BBp stuff to the DNO if they complain about the original sized 14" tires and such.

Bob

PS: you can buy brand new sbp 15" rallye wheels new for $100 each, I got the ones on the back of my race car from summit.
