Got my Dads 68 300 done about 1 year before he passed. He had this guy trying for 10 years. Glad he got a chance to drive it, I know how your PO must feel. Its also pretty cool to know who had it before.
yeah he is a nice guy he was pretty passionate about the car probably hundreds of folks tried to buy it off him but he would not sell until his health took a turn and he knew he would never get to it. my buddy was a friend of his who he wanted to sell it to but he could not swing it having just got divorced losing his house and shop. he called me and told me what was going on i showed my wife a pic of the car and told her about the old guy and she said do it.
Sounds like how I got my Scamp. Lots of people tried to buy it but most of them wanted it for parts for their Darts. He didn't want it parted out or cut up. I talked to the old guy all summer and when I told him I wanted to restore it and hop it up he thought it was so cool. He had ordered it new and checked every box he could. 318, A/C, power brakes. power steering, vinyl top, carpet front and rear, AM/FM radio with rear speaker and rear defogger! Probably the most expensive Scamp ever built! LOL It was all there but well used and hadn't been driven in years. It was sitting in an old shed. I bought it and did a fast turn around to get it running for the summer. I took it back to show the old guy but sadly he had passed so he never got to see it redone. His grandson lives there now and I still see him at car shows now and again. I've had the car 16 years and now the grandson has kids and tells them all about it. It's kinda cool, makes me smile Did a full restro-mod on it again about 5 years ago, now has a warm 360 with W2 heads, frame ties, ect.
I didn't put the vinyl top or some of the chrome trim back on. I kinda like the cleaner look. It's cool your wife likes old cars too. Mine thinks they are so stupid. She just doesn't get it. LOL. I love your Charger too. I had one back in the day. Nice car.
