What would be the torque for the 727 tranny pan with a 3/16" reusable gasket.. Heard anywhere from 7ft lbs to 12 ft lbs.. Thanks

hmmm, something else I've never had a torque wrench on.....I've always done it by feel. If the pan holes start to dimple, I stop turning!

Yep. I always used a short handle 1/4" drive ratchet.

Ive used 130 inch lbs on mine many time.

Hi Gator, Jerry from Saegertown here. I use 118 in lbs on my Belvedere and my Tempest with good results. The biggest thing is to make sure the holes in the flange are flat and tighten in steps.
Are you working on something new? I thought your 71 was a 4 speed.

Yes it is a 340 but automatic. I found the problem and it was not the tranny pan gasket which I thought it was, it was a bad O-ring on the dip stick tube. Replaced it and no more leaks.
