235/60-15 on a factory 15" x 7.5" steel wheel.

245's start to get a little tight in the back with this wheel. The easiest/cheapest way to get into this set-up is with a set of cop car wheels.

hey thanks Johnny D.........thats a big help....love the dart is that yours?? very nice look!!

Yes, that's my car.
Really you need to let us know what you want to do with the car.
That will give us a better idea. This is just one example on what can be done.

I am running 275/60/15 tires on the back of my 73 dart. The odd thing is, when i tried to run them with the 7 1/4 they hit the springs so bad you couldn't bolt them on even. when i went to an A body 8 3/4 they fit fine. same exact tire and rim i had tried previously with the 7 1/4. maybe i had some funky rear that was narrower than normal or something... I really don't know. just keep that in mind here.

that being said, with my A body 8 3/4 I can fit 275/60/15 tires on police wheels. It is tight, it might not work on some cars without massaging the fenders a bit. if you want to play it safe get something a few sizes smaller. The police wheels have the best possible backspacing for these cars.

I run 245/60/15s up front so the back tires don't look as big as they are.

well i am really not quite sure what i want to do yet lol i like the police wheel look! but may go with a weld wheel....i have always been a chevy owner and a closet mopar guy hahaha just came out of the closet this last spring and am very proud of all things mopar! never a chevy again.......another sharp looking Dart SirDan, LOVE IT!....It is all new to me but i bet the 8 3/4 is a bit wider total? I will go with the 235's anyone of you guys know the back spacing on the police wheels? that might put me in the clear for an aftermarket wheel? you guys are great thanks for chiming in and helping me out!

Rear axel flange to flange:
1963-1972 7.25 = 53.200"
1973-1976 7.25 = 51.400"
All A-body 8.75 = 51.400"

Cop car wheels are 15"x7" with a 4" bs.

I have a full set of police steel rims with 245/60/15 with a 4"-4 1/4"backspace,, 7 1/4 rearend. Have 5/8" inch clearance on springs,, front right rubs on my fender skirt when I turn left.. I'm going to the 14" ralley wheels and selling my police wheels. New Mastercraft tires on police wheels.

#3

9.65" Section width on the rear.

DO NOT rely on buying a "235" or "245" as they do not all measure the same. Look at the section width by manufacturer as well as the measuring rim size.
