73 duster slant 3 on floor ?

I found a running car I want to buy and this seems all original ? Bud was told that was never an option . This car should have a903 and was never made on the floor I was told . And this car should not have had a 230 in it . Any ideas ?

I don't understand what you're saying. Are you saying a Duster never had a slant 6 and A230 with floor shift? That's incorrect. A LOT of them were made. Who told you that horse manure?

I thought all slants with 3 speed was a a903 and wasn’t able to be put on the floor .

so slants did come with a 230 ?

I was told when trying to make my car a floor shift I asked if there was a 230 I cousi drop in my car and use and folks on this site said no

YES. Slants came with the A230.

Had a 75 with /6 and 3 on the floor from the factory.

I learned to shift a 3 on the floor in a Slant 230 Duster when I was about 5, I used to ride in the middle and dad would tell me to shift. pattern, correct?
Looked just like this one (without the 340)...Drove it back from Texas to CA in like late July 1973: no A/C, black interior, vinyl bench seats...3 kids! WTH?

I drove one from Tampa to Daytona, for Bike Week. Think it was a 72 (1990) 3 one the floor, Tri Y headers, offy 4 bbl intake, 600 Holley. Middle of the night, wow, what a ride!

So it’s just the 903 didn’t come with floor option

The 60 Valiant/Lancer came with a floor shift 3 speed, then they changed it to col. shift and the trans lost the boss on the tail shaft for the shifter. It was referred to a a noodle shifter. Sounds like why they dropped it!!!
A shifter with a non syncho 1st gear is never really all that fun.

Yes, but I am pretty sure that was the A745 transmission, was it not?

I have no clue. I have 2 of the 3 speeds out of a 62 and 64 B bodies. I have a A230 to go in the 62 Lancer that I think came out of a Duster. W. Brewer said nothing between the 2 interchange.

Even the bell housing pattern is different between an A903 and a A230. But hell yea by the early 70s you could get a A230 with a slant. I doubt they offered both at the same time for very long.

You could even get the slant 6 with the 833 four speed through the years. I wouldn't say they were terribly common, but then again they made enough of them to say them made "a lot". Both with the standard four speed and the 833 over drive four speed.

My dad had a 1962 Valiant with 3 on the floor but the shifter was bolted to the floor an not to the transmission tail housing.

I don't know anything about dusters & beyond, but my 61 valiant had a 225 slant with a 3 on the floor, what a blast to brive. I heard at the time this combo was rare, that 225's had auto, & the 170 were manual, don't know how true that was. All I know 2nd gear scratch was easy to get.

I have a 72 Twister with that setup. Not much left of it though

Whoever told you that set up did not exist did not know what he (or she) was talking about. I owned a 1973 Duster with a slant 6 and 3 speed on the floor. A buddy of mine purchased it brand new in San Antonio TX and shipped it to Germany in 1974. I bought if from him in 1976 and shipped it back to the states in 1977. Great car and ALL ORIGINAL.

Also just a note. The 71 Road Runner and 70-71 Cuda' came standard with a 383 and 3-spd on the floor. Most were optioned with the 833 or 727.
