Just purchased this reallllly clean '76 Duster for only $3500. I wish it were older, but I couldn't pass it up due to the condition. Rust is almost non existent on her, except for the deck lid. Unheard of here in Ohio, the rustbelt capital!

My plans are to do the sublime green / flat black body, with a buzzin' six pack attack under the hood. I'm going for the whole 6=8 theme without a turbo. I love the 225, and want to surprise some nay sayers with it!

Pulled the 225 tonight. Will continue to gut her over the next few weeks to get it to a body shop.

Looks like a great score - very straight and clean from what I can see. Sounds like a good plan.

Wow, that really is clean as hell!

Grats on the score.

Grats on a nice find! Looking forward to it. Please, detail everything you do with the engine. There are others with 225s who want to know.

Very nice and clean. My father and I will soon be restoring a 1973 and wish the body was as nice as that. Its not the rust its sitting on the guys pasture and gettin bumped all over.

Thanks! I will keep you all posted. I will not be able to update this constantly like the more wealthy FABOers, but I'll do it as often as possible. Trust me I wish I could. I will make sure to detail my entire 225 build.

Tonight's plans - Remove all remaining wiring, hoses, etc from the engine bay. Remove grill, head lights, and front bumper.

I've yet to decide between polishing the aluminum, or just getting it chromed. I was thinking on anodizing the aluminium green or black. That might be cool & unique (or awful) too with the sublime green/flat black color theme it will have. Your thoughts?

What are you goin to paint flat black?
I would just get the trim polished or polish it youself with steel wool and some metal polish.

The hood and the roof will be flat black. I think polishing it up would be my best bet too.

How about satin instead it would look better with the sublime.
What are you thinkin about wheels? Rallye's, Magnum's, Steelies, Cragar's......

When I say Flat I'm actually thinking Satin, sorry for the confusion. For wheels I'm thinking either Rallye or Magnums haven't quite decided that one yet. I'm leaning towards the Magnums. As you will see through out this build thread, I change my mind A LOT!

Yesterday I had the chance do polish some Aluminium. I have an Anodizing and Aluminum Polishing tutorial here -Tutorial

Got a lot done on the Duster this weekend. Pulled the interior seats, instrument cluster, tail lights, side markers, front bumper, vinyl top, and chrome trim. She's looking REALLY ugly right now. I need to get a car cover so it doesn't look so redneck out front! On the purdy side, I got some trim polished, and painted the grille black. Also tried out some "chrome" spray paint on the Plymouth emblem on the grille. Worked out nicely actually. I just need to keep in mind NOT to touch it for a couple days. It seems if it is tacky at all, your fingerprints turn the chrome to a pewteresque gray. Can't wait to see this car once it's done. The grill, headlight bezels, and grille trim look great! This is close what I'm shooting for-
