Hi,

I have a 71 Scamp and will be replacing the 7.25 rear with a 8.75 one. I sourced a 67 B body housing and comes with axles but no brake hardware. I'm seeing a lot of conflicting info and I'm getting confused.

What I know for sure:
-7.25 SBP back plates and 8.75 back plates differ
-drums would differ due to bolt pattern

What I'm confused about:
- will the guts still work?

Thanks :)

Nope the internals won't work either. 8.75. Rear can have either have 10 x 2.5 drums or 11 x 2.5 drums or even rotors

the 8 3/4 axles stick out of the housing more than the 7 1/4 , 8 3/4 should use a shorter driveline also , u-bolts and shock plates . just stay with matching componets , you can even disc the rear with jeep stuff . cut it to what tire and rim combo . brakes are outthere .

pretty much any 65-up rear wheel drive large bolt pattern rear brake assemblies will fit on your 8.75.
stay away from the small bolt brake parts, they dont interchange.
I've sold a dozen sets of 76-89 F and M body 10x2.5 rear brakes for the upgrade from small bolt with new axles.
even used a set or two myself :D
