904 ID question

I have a 904 with a serial number of PK4431424. Trying to order a rebuild kit so I need to know what year it is. Don't see that number series on the MyMopar.com site. Anyone know what year this is?

It's a 998, not a 904. Application is v-6. Come from a Dakota maybe?? It's a 1988 build, like end of January, maybe Feb 1, 1988. May have some desireable internals for sure.

The guy I bought the car from said he ordered a 904 from TCI. It still has the TCI sticker on the case. It was bolted to a 340. Should I just scrap it or will it be OK behind a mild 340?

Looks closely at the input shaft to see if it is the lock-up version when you can get to it. It was an electric lock up so the standard converter will not interchange. :(
 
post a picture of the input shaft......you can tell if it is a lock up or not by looking at it....

904...998..999 are all basically the same trans.

I certainly didnt say that. Its got four pinion planetaries and I think it may have a thicker clutch pak too. If it bolts up to an 8 cyl as you say, I'd run it!
 
lock up is worth a few hundred rpm drop on the highway.

Here is a picture of the input shaft. How do I tell by looking at it?
I never knew that the dakota 6 cylinder and the small block shared the same bolt pattern.
What kind of torque converter do I need for this tranny?

The 1988 Dakota 6 cyl was basically a 318 with 2 cylinders hacked off. Thus the reason it bolts up to a SB. The older slant 6 was different
 
And.....don’t order anything until you have it apart. You might need some hard parts. My 2 cents.
