904 problem help

I have a 904 transmission that didnt have the typical threaded cable housing...im trying to install the autometer electeic speedo adaptor but theres no threads on the plastic housing this tranny came with....so i bought a new unit and when i wrnt to install it the tibe wont fit...what am i missing? Why is this tranny not like all the others ive dealt with. Im at a loss.

Starting to feel like ive been took for a ride on this damn transmission.

You need the proper pinion & gear to fit your new housing.
Your old one is different (can't say I've seen one like that either).

the 1 he has is from later diplomat, aspen, new yorker. those body style cars.

yes the other 1 will fit. just think of it as a 71 trans. you will be fine. but you still need the old style long speedo gear in the correct tooth app for your tire and gear size.

thats easy enough, the autometer gauges dont care what gear is in there, you just press a set button, drive a measured mile and press it again and it auto adjusts.
