I have a 904 behind my 408 that has problems. My question is if I change to the 727 will my column shifter linkage and kickdown work the same? Also is the crossmember and tranny mount the same distance? I realize I will have to change the length of the driveshaft. Any comments would be appreciated.

I'm interested in replies from those that have made the 904 to 727 swap, while retaining the column shift.

Are the column shifter linkages down low on the 904 different from the factory 727 linkage?

What about kickdown linkages between the 904 and the 727?

I have a 340 and a 904/column shift in a '71 Duster; I also have a rebuilt SB 727 that I'd like to swap in.

I know that the driveshaft has to be shortened when swapping to a SB727.

Any help is appreciated.

The shifter linkage will adjust to acomodate either trans. The kickdown linkage is different 4 ways 904,727,2 brls and 4 brls.
The center section of the cross member may need to be turned around for a long tailshaft 727.
