A 1974 Duster - My 2nd one, 41 years later!

-
My block is still at the machine shop getting the lifter bores bushed (bushings put in the lifter bores), so I can run solid roller lifters and cam.

I am always on the "mopar prowl" for something that just might interest me. Saw someone had a 1974 complete 360 for sale... for near to nothing. Little drive up to Wyoming...and it's back in my shop!

Never know..I might have to build something else...don't want the Duster all lonely by herself, she needs a pal!

I was told it came out of a 74' Dodge Dart......just might have to find the right 67-69 Dart to put it back into!

Not sure, maybe just a very nice street 360, or possibly another 408. I'll start to take it apart tomorrow, see what everything looks like.

Well. I got the top off. The normal issues one would expect, 0.30 over will make her purty again. Heads are nothing special. Block turns out to be 12-4-1975 as cast in on the passenger side. All good, now to decide what it will go in. I won't post anything more about this engine in this thread, as it has nothing to do with the 74' Duster.

When I figure out what it will go in.....I'll make a new thread. I have always thought BrianT here on Fabo has an awesome looking car...I think it is a Black 67 or 68 Dart. I sure like the look of that car!

Wishing everyone a Happy New Year!!! Thank you to all that have followed and supported my build. 2019 will be the year my Duster is running and drive able...I won't say Done...because there is always something that can be done to it, right!

Hurry up and wait...on getting my block back from the machine shop. Hopefully I get the call soon.
Hey, Pete at RidgeReamers just called, my block is done. I'll pick it up tomorrow morning!!!

Idle hands...can't wait. The addiction continues, not so sure the Therapy Sessions are working Higgs? Just bought another A body. A certified bank check is in the snail mail to the seller. This will be really fun! I'll start a new build thread when the car arrives. Hmmmmm what could it be???

Well not meaning or wanting to cause a mystery or drama...The car is a 1968 Dodge Dart. It is a 270 V8 car, original color is LL-1 with a black interior. It needs some metal work and a lot of care, but I dig it. It is still in it's LL-1 color or what is left of it, never been repainted....but needing to be painted now in LL-1 again. Here is the sellers pics, more pics when it arrives here at my shop!

Duster block: Got the 408 back from the machine shop. Most of the Guitar Jones oiling modifications I've done, the machine shop bushed all the lifter bores. I am painting the galley to help with the speed of oil return to the oil pan, and it looks awesome too. Paint is POR 15 engine enamel.

Ok....408 assembly #2. This time with Clevite Mahle Full Groove main bearings. Clean, clean, clean....and clean some more! Using Lucas HP Semi-Synthetic assembly lube, good stuff!

68' Dart update, it is looking more like I'll be taking a "road trip" to Helena, Montana this coming Friday to bring the Dart home. Should be a fun road trip! Once I get the car I will start a new build thread for it.

Nice! I just went on a mini road trip (1.5 hours one way) last night to pick up a car. I’ll be posting a thread in the Mopar General Discussion section sometime today.

All the transport companies say E brake must work. Seller says he disconnected it....at the moment I am not so sure he is willing to fix it so it works. Have to see.
