A833 to A833-OD

If I had two four speeds one is cast iron A833 and the other is an Aluminum A833OD can I swap the internals to make the cast iron case the overdrive?

I am considering buying the OD that is for sale on here but it is aluminum and I've heard not so good things about that. For my application I would prefer the overdrive tranny.

yes you can thats what I did and I kept the alum. tailshaft saved a little weight.

What problems are there with the aluminum case?

just put a bushing in the Aluminum case and run it .....or you can get a 76 cast iron cased OD.
