Hi everybody:

I can't make out the I.D. numbers above the pan but can you guys tell if this is a small block 727 or a big block? Thanks

Looks like small block, two bolts for inspection cover.

Well if it is it's awesome because it's right in town and cheap....a great core :)

I like your signature Dubob :D

The trick is if you hold out your thumb and pinky finger (like the hang loose sign) your thumb and finger should fit right into the top two bell housing bolt holes if it's a big block, if a small block the holes will be too far apart for your fingers.

Right I saw this too. It's quite easy to tell with the bulge. The big block bulge is much higher isn't it.

The absolute easiest and quickest way to tell is the SB has this curve under the starter and the BB doesn't.

The big block starter also looks to be in a higher position...

Thanks!!! I might actually be able to remember that!!

Just noticed the big difference on the side holes, the two close together. That for me is pretty glaring. I know I won't remember "inch" measurements

Well I got it. Everything went great. The guy who sold it to me had a big 69 Plymouth Fury in his garage that was almost done. He started it up and it rumbled away. It's going to be quite the road master lol. I should send him an email with a video link when I get mine going :)
