It's so hard to find a 8 3/4 axle around my area. So I'm thinking of upgrading my 7 1/4 rear end (gears). I want to keep my sbp craigers on my 71 dart swinger.

I just picked up 10 of them, they are around. Also, look into 8.8 Ford as they are everywhere for $150 and come with disks. I would not spend a dollar on a 7 1/4, specially since you can get a "ggod" one for $50. Where in Cali are you?
