Assembling Matching Numbers 383-Is fuel pump painted?

Almost done putting my engine together. Need to locktite the camshaft bolt and put together the front end, primer the block and paint.

Was the fuel pump painted engine color?

This goes in my 69 383-s.

I did mine that way but it was bad and had to be replaced. To late after re-Assembly.

Think they were though. Seems they would have been based on the fact even the exhaust manifolds were.

Opinion only no hard facts.
 
All smallblock fuelpumps were painted red as the rest of the engine. That was the fastest way. Think production way! On smallblock the distributor cap with cables was mounted when the engine hadn't fried so cables has red paint on them. Not nice but fast!

I pulled the big block exhaust manifolds off the shelf and there is residual paint on the heat riser, so you are right, the exhaust manifolds were painted.
