On my 67 Dart 2 dr., the drivers door striker pin was torn out. I sourced a patch from another lister, and I'm ready to patch it in. Just to let you know what I found:

On the 67, the floating nut retainer "cage" is tack welded to the back side of the jamb (I'm sure everyone knows that"....but the jamb sheet in NOT reinforced, its just 1 skin layer thick. ON the patch piece from a later dart, there is the skin, then a 1/16 doubler plate, then the cage and nut. Ma added the 1/16 plate, ~ 3x3" to prevent the pin tear out.

I would imagine, its only a matter of time before the passenger door pin tears out. So I'm going to fix it before it does.

He's the plan. Access the cage from the inside. remove the cage ( drilling out the spot welds that hold it on). I'll then tack the cage to a 3x3 doubler plate. I then drill 4-6 5/16 holes through the jamb, to plug weld the new plate and cage to the jamb skin.

Hundreds of you have done the repair, by cutting the big patch. I'm trying to make the repair area tiny...only a few holes. We'll see how it goes.

Question: what is the first year the A bodies got the reinforcing doubler???

LOL @ the prices..

Who's cashing in on a issue?

Just get some paint in there when your done so it doesn't rust.

holy moley...$$$$ right there!

Donor striker fix. still. 67 is single wall. patch is double wall. (first 2 picts) 3rd is the removal cut. 4th is the welded in patch with pin.

Temporary rattle can over striker repair. "good" filler and paint to be applied next year in the resto process. Good enough for now....

we'll do the pass. door as a precaution, later in the build.

what year did it change.
