Bondo Application

Should Bondo only be applied to bare metal or can it be applied over primer? I don't know crap about body work, someone school me on bondo application please. I'm going to be filling a seam where I've replaced a body panel.

On top of primer works. Was a time when bondo needed a rough grinded surface for adhesion but todays bondo will stick to a windshield. Best method is the rough surface protected with epoxy primer to prevent rust under the bondo.

Like RedFish said, a lot of folks apply it right over primer these days. Some choose to stick with bare metal (pun intended). If you're doing a seam I'd consider applying something like All-Metal first then top with standard filler.
