Face drain hole downward. That way any leaks past the MC piston won't flow into your booster. Note many newer cars have a vacuum seal there between MC and booster. Those boosters are a thin pancake shape and don't have the inner bellows on the fwd side. Brake fluid leaks in those run into the booster.
I asked because I recently put a set of fabricated valve covers on a small block and with the larger booster (which one do you have there?) they hit each other.. just a word of caution.
