Brake Lines

Are the brake line patterns the same for a 71/4 and 8/3/4 rear ends? I am in the process of purchasing new OE aftermarket replacements and no one I have spoken to seems to know.

Well, when I changed rearends I didn't have to do anything with the brake lines. But my 8-3/4 came complete with the rear lines attached. The width of the axles is the same (if you are using an A-body 8-3/4), so it's possible the hard lines would just swap over. I guess the exact location of the breather block would be key.

If the vendor doesn't list different rear lines for 340 and slant six cars, then I think you can assume they are the same.

they are for sure not the same. they follow the contour of the housing. the 7 1/4 is more of a half octagon shape in the middle and the 8 3/4 has a radius bend. im sure you could make it work but it wouldnt be right.

But are we talking about the front to back? Or the one on the axle itself?

Thanks, I am talking about front to back as well as accross. I may not have any other options anyway. I hope they fit right.
