Hi everyone.

Can someone tell me, for a 67 Valiant, what the build code would be on the data plate for June 21? Will it be last line, third from right? Yes I realize that number isn't a guarantee the car was built on that exact date.

I know Valiants were built in more than one place, will it be the same for all factories?

Thanks everyone.

June 21 would be 621
The Valiant was built in Los Angeles and Hamtramck, same codes were used.

Thanks Alan. I figured there'd be a letter in there somewhere. Seems pretty simple. Now the hard part is to find the car with that on it.

We'll use my Barracuda (1967) as an example.
On this plate the B29 is the date, November 29
A - October
B - November
C - December

The 235 would be for the tires (6.95x14 WSW x5)

The VIN for my Barracuda is BH29D721
The 2 is for Hamtramck, 5 would be Los Angeles

Okay now I'm confused. You said it would be three numbers and then you give me an example with a letter and two numbers. Valiants and Barracudas are different? It's random?

First digit, month
1-9 Jan-Sep
A-C Oct-Dec
Last 2 digits are the date

This is the same for all plants during this era (60s/70s).
All cars, all plants

Even at a plant that makes different cars

VIN might look something like this at a plant
BH29D72100001
BH23D72100002
VL41B72100003
BH23E72100004
etc.

A different plant would start at 100001 as well

Back to my example
BH29 Car-line/Body-type
31 - Engine
5 - Transmission
235 - Tires
B29 - Date
02016 - Shipping/Sales Order
The codes above this are the different options.

Nothing random

Ah, now I got it. Thanks Alan. I wasn't considering the first 9 months with the last three.
