cars you junked but maybe should not have

-
had a 90 ford festiva i got for free. drove it and blew the motor in it. a friend sold me a wrecked 2001 ford escort ZX3 for $100. i was going to take the Ztec and 5sp and swap int o the festiva and build a cheap gasgetter sleeper with a turbo. it sounded good on paper. but the escort parts got sold and the festiva went to the scrap after i parked my jeep on it.

I scrapped my 68 Ford Torino 2 door hard top. about 15yrs ago... after losing control of it and slamming into a guard rail. Probably should have tried to repair it.

I was 16..Scrapped a 37 Olds coupe with a 55 Buick Nailhead motor in it because I lost my Drivers license. That was a loooong time ago...stuff wasn't worth much then.Only Mopar was a 67 Belvadere station wagon I called "The Blue Whale".It was a great car.Drove it till it dropped.

A friend of mine worked at an impound lot and would tell me and my buddies about unclaimed cars that were to be sold on lien titles. In 1977 I picked up a pristine 1966 Charger with a 361 big block and fully optioned for my sister to drive. A year or so later she seized the engine because she didn't bother to check the oil or change it. Apparently it developed an oil leak and she didn't tell me about it. I didn't have the room to keep it so I junked it. About the same time, my dad bought a really nice 1968 v8 Dart 4 door through my lien connection. A year later, the timing chain failed and some of the valves ruined a couple of pistons. It, too, went to the junk yard because of a lack of room.

1971 Scamp. White, black interior, console, SBP discs, 225 slanty, 8 3/4", buckets...paid $400 for it, drove it and then parted it out and more than doubled my money in 1998
Quarters needed a little help, windshield was cracked, and needed new brake pads.
Other than that, all there and perfectly driveable.

forgot one ....i been told that this one was a rare beast bcoz it was high optioned with bucket seats and console but i didnt think about rarity at the time

oh Rani... i would have bought this fury off of you in a heartbeat... even if it werent rare and optioned.

cars that I have junked:
1. '64 Coronet 440
2. '67 Belvedere II
3. TWO '71 Dusters
4. '64 Dart 2dr. post
5. '67 Barracuda (still have a lot of parts from this one)

Although, embarrassing to admit, and it has been many years ago and I still silently cry over some of them......all these that I owned have met Madam Crusher!

71 Road Runner 340 4 speed (my first Mopar, took my now wife to Prom in it in 1974)
I did buy a second one almost identical 5 years later and then sold it. Believe it is still alive.
65 Buick Riviera Gran Sport Nailhead 425 dual quad
69 1/2 383 Superbee
65 Ranchero 289
66 Thunderbird Landau 428 cid

I also hate this thread, Lance.
'73 Charger
'74 Dodge Van
'73 Road Runner
'85 GLH Omni
And who knows how many of our beloved Mopars got scrapped by Chevy guys during the '70's & '80s because they hated Mopars, but I guess that's another thread huh.

In the mid '90's, I parted out and scrapped the following dur to a lack of space;
'66 Belvedere 1 Post 2 door 225/904
'66 Charger 383/727
'70 Duster 318/904/ 8 3/4
These would be prime driver quality cars today, but then, with no room, and too many other projects going on, who knew.
I was spoiled then.

I scrapped a BO29 68 Barracuda:^o because the seats were uncomfortable & it didn't like to start in wet weather. It didn't have a back seat either. Couldn't have been that good of a car anyway because it had a sticker on it from the factory saying it had no warranty. Some sort of reject from the assembly line I guess.:tard:
Scrap man was a nice guy though:evil2:, gave me a few extra bucks for it & came & got it right away!
:violent1:

HA!! No I didn't!!:jocolor:

Not too many cars I regret scrapping, but several parts I wish I had back!! Cleaning out storage & thinking "I won't ever need that, or that's probably not worth anything." Kick myself sometimes!

I did not scrap it but I sold my 73 340 4 speed Challenger because the guy was going to restore it back to new. Part way through the resto he found another Challenger that was even better than mine and cut mine up and sold it for parts. I was heartbroken. I had that car for 11 years and wanted to restore it myself but did not have a place or the money to bring it back to it's orignal state.

I have to say that I don't regret any of the ones I parted or junked. The first thing I thought of was the '66 Dart 273-2 with four speed and console that I sold too cheap, I should have kept the drivetrain and interior for myself.

Not a mopar but a '66 Caddy this one was going to be hot rodded but it had way too many rust issues ..the floor boards where completely gone ! and it was completely gutted on the inside

that woulda made a good phantasm hearse.

I scrapped a 65 Belvedere wagon that was rust free, when I was 17 years old. In 1975, it was a 10 year old car, and I just bought it to get the 68 340 out of it to go in my 70 Duster. I'd love to have it right now to make a beater out of. :banghead:

Scrapped a 74 Duster with snake skin vinyl top. Bought it for the 318 to put in my first Duster. Wasn't smart enough at the time to swap the 7.25 rear for the 8.25 in the parts car. Saved several parts off it for a few years but threw them away when I was moving to a small trailer with no room for storage. Threw away a perfect set of chrome side-view sport mirrors, $500+ for a set of decent ones at swap meets, a flawless 74 grille, decent taillights and trim a couple original am/fm radios. Don't want to think about this any more!

I love c bodies. I got rid of the '69 barracuda before my '65 Chrysler Newport coupe...and I really liked the barracuda. I have a sentimental attachment to that newport and flat out dig it. I dream of one day having a '68 fury with the fast back roof and worked 440 4 speed...

I love c bodies...!!

1968 Coronet R/T 440 4 speed car.No fender tag, solid but side swiped down both sides.I used it for a parts car for my 68 Coronet 440.It was 1985 and I was 15.I paid $80.00 for the R/T nowdays it would have been a easy fix with AMD metal.....
