Last night seen a Toy commercial that you only see at Christmas time

WHAMO so how many years has WHAMO been producing toys for Christmas? Their commercials are t too bad for a commercial

The one I HATE, but haven't seen but know it is coming is the chia pet.

WHO BUYS THOSE STUPID THINGS?

Why do they have to have all those commercials for such a stupid product?

Does anyone ever buy a chia pet in the summer?

Glad they haven't come yet

I'm more like Scrooge, will be glad when it is over. It isn't about the commercials, it isn't shopping in July for gifts that people don't want.

All I want for Christmas is for it to be over

The reason for the season is not commercial, it is life, celebrate the real reason

Ok done now

I find most TV ads dumb, I keep the volume off lots of times--sometimes even during sports games, baseball, football. Lots of times, I got no idea just what the advertisement is for, like Olive Garden, it just gave me an idea what I should cook for dinner, ha ha...well at the end I see the name Olive Garden but by then, I knew what I was going to cook myself for dinner. The best TV ads are those that show the name of the place while the ads are running or right when the ads first starts

Regarding Christmas Commercials, I enjoy some of them, the one's that are clever, or funny. I do dislike the commercialism, though. I also dislike the advertisements that announce that the store will be open on Thanksgiving Day, or Christmas Day, or New Year's Day. I think it's a terrible practice. All non-essential businesses should be closed on those days. Whether people observe those holidays, or not, they are NATIONAL HOLIDAYS, and the employees, most of whom do celebrate Thanksgiving and New Year's, even if they aren't Christian.

I disagree. I love the Holidays. I enjoy being with my family, and my extended family. I enjoy the travel, too.
It's been some time since we had Thanksgiving at our house. we were in Emporia Va. last year, New Jersey the year before that, and Orlando the year before. Had Christmas in Orlando last 3 years, twice at my daughter's place, once at my son's, and the year before that we were in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Jacksonville, and St Augustine the two years before that.

This year we're having Thanksgiving at my daughter's house, and Christmas will be here at our house in Georgia. My daughter and my 2 sons and their families will be here. It will sure be a house full, and I can't wait!

We got rid of cable just in time for this years commercialism garbage.
Mostly because I got sick of paying the cable company to see drug commercials, drug lawsuit commercials and new car ads.
It seemed to be broken up a little with diarrhea medications and car insurance ads though, so that was nice.

NOT!

Sorry, I had to do that. :)

Hate holiday commercials, as it just ruins the whole idea for me and the garbage they are trying to sell is usually some cheap peice of Chineese crap anyway.

I don't mind the Christmas season at all except the commercialism.
I don't bother with the commercialism, so it doesn't affect me at all.
The dinner, family, and friends is what it's all about for me.
I don't mind the commercials or shows on t.v. either.
Love ''A Charlie Brown Christmas''. lol

The old commercials were better. There was no problem saying "Christmas." I disconnected my cable over a year ago, no commercials to annoy me anymore. Here's a favorite Christmas commercial that came to mind.

Eeeeh,I could take it our leave it at this point.

My family and my wifes family are all past the point of giving gifts, so its all about a big meal now.
I don't know, I always enjoyed getting and giving, but the family got too big, some of the family weren't able to buy gifts because of financial issues, so we just gave it up.

Couple years ago we went to San Fran, to see the wifes family for Christmas, I kinda talked them into doing gifts. Its a smaller group so I thought it would work out. We put some thought into it, and gave gifts that we thought they wanted, or could actually use.
They went to the grocery store and bought us giant chocolate bars, just what we needed, more sugar. lol
So I just gave up after that.

We wont go to Jersey to do Christmas with my stepdaughter and her husband, and the two grand kids cause they are TOTALLY into the rampant consumerism and over giving of gifts.
The grandkids have lots of aunts, uncles, cousins, and grandparents back there and they get probably close to 100 gifts between the two. It's just insane.
We spent one Christmas morning with them a few years back. They started opening gifts first thing in the morning, then took a break for breakfast, then they opened more gifts, then we took a break for lunch, and then they finished with the gifts. We wont do that again, so we visit them when there's not a holiday happening.

For me I'm just over it, I like the lights, and some of the Christmas services and activities at church, but the rest of it is just a big let down. Plus we've had a lot of deaths and such around Christmas time. My grandma died on Christmas day, my dad a couple weeks before Christmas, my uncle a week after Christmas.

Sorry, I guess I got off track a little.

Christmas commercials - Hate em

Especially the ones where some guy gives his wife a new Audi with a big bow on it for Christmas. Give me a freakin break, like how many people have the money to buy someone a 30K - 40K car for Christmas.

The good thing about the Christmas commercials is we only have to endure them for a few months. Unlike the political campaign ones that just finished up.

I like some of the commercials. The others I just tune out.

Regarding the Christmas season, it is my absolute favorite time of the year. Even though a lot of my family is gone and sometimes I get a little sad, the good memories make me feel good. Plus, I get to make new good memories every year. I love everything to do with Christmas.

I have to agree about the memories of Christmases past and making new ones.

I agree with this.. but I will also add that I celebrate the birth of Christ and no Islamic Lib is going to tell me different.

Looking through this post is kind of an eye opener to the fact that most people have lost the real reason for the season. God bless everyone and I hope you all have a wonderful Christmas.

You got that right. Preach on brother.

I haven't had a television that gets signal since they sold analog signal.

I love it. It doesn't cost me anything and Oldflix/ Netflix gives me lots of entertainment, as well as reason to make my house more of my home, until I get good weather again to build my garage.

I like decorating. I'm one of those people. I also love giving and making gifts.

I can't trash talk black Friday anymore. Last year, we went to the cell phone store and a friend who worked there got $40 shaved from our bill per month, we got a $150 rebate sent to my bank card instantly and Amy got a free LG smartphone, with upgraded service on the $40 cheaper per month gig.

I think we got paid about $600 or so in total value, without spending a dime, just for dragging our butts out of the house that day and we were home in 2 hours.

i'm one of those that feel xmas and thanksgiving are holidays meant for celebrating their true meaning, and it ain't insane gift giving and credit card overrun!??????
its great if family can get together and make memories. great food is wonderful. commercials suck. black fri should be banned!! LOL
I don't give grandkids gifts. they get way too many from all other relatives. its insane. totally nuts!!!!
when I was a kid back in south ga. , my mother had all the family over, like 25-30 people. we drew names to give gifts. she cooked enough wonderful food to feed any army (confederate!).... so my family bought a gift for say Uncle Walter. then my family had our own present thing Xmas day. a couple new shirts and a pellet gun, that was it and it was wonderful ( except the clothes!)< LOL
life was simple then, and pretty dainged good!!!!

I believe I would enjoy Xmas more if it wasn't always so freezing cold outside. Yeah it sometimes can be depressing yet I'm still looking forward to it. One day Xmas will be awesome I keep telling myself, hopefully this will be the year. If not, there is NYE to try to make up for it. I went to toronto a few years back for NYE since I had a free hotel room with reward points, that was pretty good even thou I caught a mild cold while over there. This year thinking I stay in my home state of Michigan, it be cheaper and closer for me. I'm not going to stay home and be depressed...been there, done that in the past, lol

The thing is, everybody doesn't have a big happy family to celebrate the holidays with. I lost my grandparents very early in life and I have yet to have any children--which expect for Xmas time, I really don't mind at all, maybe someday it come a time but now isn't it for me.

One needs not to let others get them down. Once I was so depressed, I hated seeing other people that looked happy. That sounds crazy but it happen to me...I was facing surgery the next day and even thou it was just a hernia surgery, I was half scared to death and had not solo to comfort me....I went 250 miles from home to get it done since it seemed better over there and it was cheaper as well. That evening before going to the hospital I got in a very sad, very down mood, the more smiles I seen, the more I got depressed...I almost started flipping out thinking those smiling people were laughing at me..I knew that wasn't true yet I wanted to scream at some people that looked so happy.

Maybe thats why Xmas can get some folks so depressed ? Seeing others who are happy when you are not can be stressful.

I wimped out and went back to my hotel room before I lost it and did something I would had later regret, don't think I would had but then again the more smiles I seen, the worst I was getting inside, so I told myself I better just retreat back to the crib, ha ha

Sorry for the rabbling but I know Xmas can get some folks very depressed and just trying to figured it out, if there is any explanation for it

It's sad that it has become all about making a buck or "what I want."

Jesus Christ the savior of the world....now that is something to celebrate!

...and yeah, I have had some pretty depressing Christmas days...family being so distant at times.......
