cleaning up heads

I taken out all the valves and one was stuck and the intakes had so much soot that one was glued in ..I had to soak it with kroil and brake cleaner to get it loose..what I found on three valves,was that they were really hot..or what I think was really hot.i took pics ,maybe one of you head gurus could look and tell me what on these valves..tx..j

It's fairly common for them to discolor over years of service. The darker areas on the seat angle is from leakage which again is fairly normal on a worn set of guides. I would lap them in if you are doing nothing else on the heads. If you are having the heads redone - have the guides checked (and probably replaced) and have the intakes back-cut during the valve job. It's worth some flow with nothing else done.
