Currently detailing my engine compartment a bit.
Going to repaint exhaust manifold cast iron gray as it is currently wayyyyy to silver!
Notice that the counterweight on my heat control valve is blue. This does not seem logical to me. Finding colour photos of period correct \6 engines on the web is not easy. These valves are seldom clearly photographed.
So I am looking for your informed opinions. For it to be 1972 accurate, do I paint it the same colour as the rest of the exhaust manifold?

P.S.: if you notice anything else blatantly wrong in this picture, please bring it up.

Thanks all.

When Ma Mo painted the engine she painted the complete engine, including the exhaust manifolds. Then the carb, alternator, choke, etc were bolted on. The reason the exhaust manifolds did not appear to be painted is because the paint burned off. The counterweight on the manifold did not get direct heat, so generally some paint could remain, and the manifolds would turn to a nice shade of rust.
