I just bought a set of 73 upper control arms for the disc brake swap. The one control arm has a crack on the tube that the bushings are pushed into.

Do you think it would be ok just to weld up the crack and still use that control arm?

unless its a tubular upper control arm and your using it for weight saving advantages then the original ones have always worked for me and i would suppose that sure if you weld it it will work but it could but the bushing out of line if you heat it up to much when you weld it and like Jim had said just make sure your bushing is tight

One more thing to add. When you install the bushings look through both like it was a scope. The bushing furthest from you will line up in the center of the one closest (look both ways to be sure). If they don't line up then the arm is junk. I also have a long bolt that I use as part of my press tool and it tells me instantly whether the arm is straight.
