Does anyone have a glue they prefer to use to repair cracks like the on in this sail panel form my 74 Duster?

I was thinking I would repair the crack and use a sponge to fill and re texture the exposed side. But I'm thinking that the repair has a good chance of failing upon re installation.

Any thoughts?

Personally I've been trying to convert all my plastic interior parts to the older metal ones.

Are the 70 Duster panels metal? I'd interested in knowing.

I have good success repairing plastic kick panels and other plastic parts with PVC pipe cleaning solvent and glue on the back side. If the front crack is deep and visible on a grained piece, I've used a film of JB Weld and then "textured" the area with a crumpled piece of aluminum foil. The plastic piece can then be topcoated with Herb's interior paint.
