Many moons ago I swapped to power steering. Didn't know any better and collapsed the column to make it work. I have a parts car with a power steering column (turned out it was collapsed too). Took the manual one apart about as incorrectly as possible. So the power one went a lot easier. Got the shafts apart with a torch to melt the plastic and used ultra black to hold them together. Going to give it a week to cure.
