None of it is cast, all is hammered, welded and forged out of steel. Below is an old mule deer shed he found in the 1980's. The deer's right antler is the old natural shed and the left antler is one he formed from steel to mirror the right.

The left side of the skull, below the steel antler, is a more contemporary rendition and the right side of the skull, below the natural antler, is a more natural version.

Pretty nice mule deer. It would have measured over 32" wide in real life.

I think you better cure him of that "artist" stuff or you are going to lose a head porter. Nice stuff!!
 
Full size replica, Cody made of steel, of a Mule deer shed that took him 9 months to find the second side after finding the first side. The natural antlers are being put on a shoulder mount by a local taxidermist.
