I just had the bushings and joints in the front end of the Arizona Dart replaced, and a disk brake kit installed. The brake kit specifies 15" wheels to clear the calipers. The 235/60/15 that my mechanic had on hand hit the lowest part of the front wheelwells.

The tire comparison program I used tells me that 205/60/15s give me slightly over an inch and a half less radius than what's on hand. That really seems like it should be enough, but does anyone know for sure? Thanks!

235-60-15 is big for the front. 215-60-15 is probably the biggest 60 series thats going to work.

Thanks for the responses, folks. my mechanic sent me a pic of his 235/60/15 mounted on my new brake rotor. It was obviously too big (way too big)! After finding a program to compare tire sizes, I compared the 235 to 225, 215 & 205/60/15. Since a front swaybar is in the plan, Badart's comment:
On my 65 a 215 clears the fender and almost the sway bar.
wasn't what I wanted to hear. What happens when the 215 tire DOESN'T clear the sway bar? A rubbing sound, or chunks of the tire sidewall flying about. The 205 is.39" narrower and .49" shorter, which may or may not be enough to keep it off the swaybar. Anyway, the 205 seems to be the smallest tire for a 15" wheel. Looks like that's where I'm headed.

If you want more diameter you could move up to a 205/65/15. I think that would be closer to stock diameter.

Thanks, 65, I bought a pair of 14" American Racing Torque Thrust IIs, the same wheels that are working for me on the ragtop, with P195/60/r14 tires.
