Does anyone know if there is a spec on how high or low the dash cross bar has to be placed and if u have a pic of yours in a abody i would appreciate it thanks Steve

I have seen them run below the dash as well but i don't want to hit my knees on the damn thing all the time....

no spec on height, you don't even need it if you haven't cut up your firewall

Nhra has exact specs for acceptable heights for the dash bars. Best to look that up to get an accurate location. I know i have seen several needing to be cut out and moved over the years. So there is a sp3c on it in the rule books

for an 8.5 cert bar there is no spec on height, its pretty obvious, it will be lower than the windshield and high enough that your knees wont bang on it, and it is not required on an 8.5 cert cage if the firewall has not been modified more than 1 square foot.

Why would one not put in a structural significant bar under the dash if they are going to add a cage in the first place??? If one wants to upgrade later to go faster down the rosd. Perhaps it being there already will savr them the hassle and cost to do it now.

I have one in my car, I am just stating that it is not required so if he chooses not to put one in he will be just fine, I have built plenty of cars without them, the car's cert to 8.5 and the owner is happy

Thats the mistake we made, our stock firewall was like swiss cheese so i fabbed one up to find out now i need to add the dash bar and cage instead of roll bar its my fault so now we move forward.thanks for pics -steve

I can find a spec on every bar BUT the dash bar-they state it is "lower window/dash bar "but no specific specs on it-steve

just has to tie the two forward windshield down bars together from side to side, just put it anywhere it fits good, obviously lower than the windshield and high enough so you don't bang your knees and legs on it.

Thanks for all the help again guys, i appreciate the responses-steve

I wish I would have gone through the dash with the A pillar bars , but since I didn't this is what I got.
No knee issues , but it would sure look cleaner behind the dash.
