I have a 1972 Dart Swinger. You can check it out in my signature.

Well guys I have a choice. I have a complete 1974 Dart Sport dash with every bit of wiring. I don't know if I should take out the old dash and put this one in, or just put in the new under dash wiring harness in the one already in the car (got the harness with the car). If I keed the dash in it, I'll have to rewire it and find a new wood grain piece for the heater switches which wouldn't be hard. Or I can repaint the new dash, and just bolt it in. The big issue is that I really didn't want to pull the windshield out until I had a new one. It's got a few bad spots in it that look bad. What should I do? I might be leaving details out so ask away.

The 72/ 4 harnesses have differences, unless you are going to use the entire dash/ engine bay harness.

You have a 74 shop manual?

That harness will be a disaster in that car. 74's were a electrical nightmare from the start. Stay with the 72 harness.

In the 72 dash the fan switch moves left/right. In the 74 dash the fan switch moves up/down. This is a indication that everything beyond that switch is different also.
So a 74 controller wouldn't operate the 72 heat a/c case.

I don't. I have a 72 dash harness and a 74 engine harness. Will that cause problems?

The 74 engine harness has a white connector in line. It would be at the rear of the right valve cover on a V8. They ran alternator and everything else through it. It's prone to corrosion, overheating, meltdown, crossed circuits.
74 harness has a seatbelt safety interlock and several other wires you don't need.

I believe that's pretty much what I said, yes. Do NOT mix 72/ 74 harness sections.''

You can buy the connector terminals. You can rebuild your 72 harness, and if needed use some of the connector housings off the 74 as parts.

Or you can order various "repop" harness

Or you can use aftermarket Painless/ Autowire/ etc? "non" factory harness

So it would just be best to ditch the 74. I already had all of it from previous vehicles so I figured I might could work out something. Thanks for the help.
