I bought parts from desert valley auto and their service is great.
And then, they used that belt cutter to bust out the 1/4 glass on that early Dart...
Anyone notice the Cialis ads that run with the show? An older guy's Chevy over-heats but he is so car-wise he walks past the mechanic and adds water to the radiator himself, then drives home to do his manly duty. Might impress non-FABO viewers since most people today are afraid to open the hood of their "computerized" cars. Maybe they pulled the ad for fear of lawsuits from dweebs who got burnt by spewing hot water when they tried that at home.
I was told never to reply to or even read most internet threads about the show or our company ect.
I can remember the old debates over American Hot Rod when it first came out. Why is everyone always so critical of these shows all the time? These guys might not take months or even years to refurbish (not restore) a classic, but atleast they are saving some American history from being a parts pile or a lost cause. Besides, its not your car they are working on so sit back, have a cold beer, and enjoy the fact that our hobby and passion is celebrated.
Ashamed to be associated with these so called "Saving American Iron" guys. I would be hanging my head if I sold that Charger to a father and son for 15k. What a Joke.

Someone has been watching a lil too much TV. I'll post the quote in case the ad expires...
"1964 Plymouth Barracuda, 273, V8, Push Button Stick. Doesn't run. Restoration project, or parts. Glass value alone makes it a great deal ($2000 back window intact). Asking $1500 OBO"
I pretty much agree.. I have never been overly critical of these shows.. I kinda like them.. the only 'car' show I watch for information value is Gears with Stacy David.. other than that its all entertainment for me.. I agree some of the things they do on these shows is goofy.. sometimes dumb, or not what some of us might do.. but.. its not my stuff, isnt my car.. so.. I just sit back and enjoy... I will say though that the Charger episode was irratating to say the least when they broke that Dart glass... I mean really?? wtf is that all about.. are they saying NO ONE out there might need that quarter glass? Business must REALLY be great to just destroy salvageable parts.. They kept going on and on about Charger parts being IMPOSSIBLE to find, so lets go out in the yard and break something from a differant Mopar, because clearly parts are plentiful for those.. yea ok...
I see Jason responded in 3 threads here on FABO, this one being the longest, thread.
Am I missing something? I haven't been on much lately, but I did a search and If I read right, there are 3 threads, bout the same but different!
His responce to FABO same on all 3 threads with admin on right behind in all 3! One thread replying to him with warm wishes (mostly) and the other short one looked like part of this thread.
Am I on the money here or just needing another beer??
There is 3 threads right??
LMAO!!!:happy2:
...DVAP is a business....in the current business model they acquire a rusted hulk of a vehcile, make it run, slap some paint on it and sell it........its a flip, just like in housing.
Is it the "right" way to do it?
Probably not.
...
My problem isnt that they didnt do it right. My problem (well the first one) is that they do a half assed job and advertise their cars as restored when in fact they are just daily drivers. It is misleading and wrong..
Jason,
Your pricing isn't "overpriced"... It's ridiculous. I sent you guys an email 3 weeks ago wanting to get a price on fenders and am still waiting on a response. I instead called in and was quoted $300 a fender. I instead found a fellow FABO member who had a pair at $100 each. So, saving $200 a fender is just smart on my part. My suggestion is to not intentionally overprice your parts so people can talk you down to a more realistic price and just set a realistic no haggle price. Because let's be honest. Haggling is for Turkish Bazaar's. Just give us the real price would you? Make it a fair price and you will win hearts.
